Caverta:
Caverta is used to treat sexual problems, erectile dysfunction (ED), or impotence. By helping the blood flow into penis the medicine helps to have and maintain erection. It may also be taken to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), i.e. high blood pressure in the main artery carrying blood from the heart to the lungs. Caverta increases blood supply to the lungs and reduces the work content of the heart.
1.How taken:
To use the medicine one needs the doctor’s prescription for it.
Caverta comes as tablets taken orally.
2. Follow your doctor’s instructions on how to use the medicine. The doses depend on your health state and reaction to the medicine. The doctor may increase them if necessary. Generally, it’s taken once a day 30 minutes-4 hrs before sexual intercourse, average and the most effective time is 1 hr.
3.For ED:
The average dose is 50 mg once a day. The doctor can ask you to start taking more (100 mg) or less (25 mg). Men over 65 should start from a smaller dose (25 mg). For those taking HIV protease inhibitors the average dose is 25 mg as well.
4.For PAH: about 20 mg 3 times a day with a 4-6 hrs interval.Caverta starts working in half an hour after it’s taken and last up to 4 hrs.
5. Sexual stimulation is necessary in order to achieve the necessary effect.
Precautions
1. The medicine can be used only from the doctor’s approval.
2. The medicine is for MEN only and is not supposed to be taken by either children or women.
3. Caverta doesn’t protect form diseases transmitted via sexual contact (HIV, for example).
4. Try not to drink grapefruit juice and eat grapefruit when taking the medicine.
5. This medicine is not to be taken if you use any nitrates, nitroprusside or nitroglycerin or any medications containing butyl or amyl nitrate.
6. Tell the doctor if you are using any medicines at the moment.
7. If you turn to be allergic to Caverta, do not use it any more.
